Apartamentos Nova Romana

It was fine.

Romana Beach is only about 3 minutes away, and it’s a lovely spot with natural scenery, fine sand, and useful amenities nearby, including restrooms, a supermarket, a restaurant, and an ice cream parlor. The complex is very well kept, and the pool is great for kids, with a waterfall, a beach-style entrance, a separate children’s pool, and a splash pool for babies.

The pool and garden were the best parts, and Roman beach is only a five-minute walk away. The apartment itself needs a serious renovation, though, and I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it unless its condition improves. Finding Nova Romana Marineu was difficult because the building number was wrong and the directions didn’t lead us there. We also weren’t told the stove ran on butane, and some of us had never used one before. A quick explanation would have helped. The apartment was poorly cleaned. The floor had stubborn streaks, the dishes were greasy and needed washing, and there wasn’t much tableware, especially cutlery. The cabinet trim in the living room had been taken off and put in a drawer, which made the place feel neglected. Even the sheets had marks on them. Seeing residue on them, they should have been replaced, even if they came from a laundromat. We ended up sleeping on the living room sofa bed because the bedroom didn’t feel usable. Its window opened onto a shared hallway where other guests could enter, and the old fan was too noisy to sleep with. The bedside lamps were dusty and very old. There were rusty hooks and screws in the bathroom, and the taps, especially the bidet tap, looked badly cleaned. I didn’t want to open the wall cabinet because it seemed like it might fall. The crank for the awning was rusty and unpleasant to handle too.

I’ve visited twice and stayed in different apartments through the same agency. The staff are very polite and helpful, and they do their best to make the stay comfortable. They even give you a map and explain where things are. I was delighted with the place and will definitely come back again and again.
