Finca Can Marti

There’s a lot to like about Can Marti: a large finca at the foot of a mountain beside a nature reserve, with a pool in front of the house and an inviting gazebo with loungers. The main house has two bedrooms, a bathroom, an open-plan living room and kitchen, and a lovely enclosed conservatory, though it gets like a greenhouse in summer. There’s AC in the living room and one bedroom, but not the other. Beside the house is a covered seating area with a barbecue. The gazebo looks out over the garden, which reaches to a separate bungalow with a double bed, en-suite bathroom, TV, terrace and AC. Farther south there’s a small lemon grove and a kind of gazebo used by the owners. The property ends at a large, solid gate on the south side, which makes leaving by car easier, as the owners recommend. The grounds are very large, but the setting isn’t as secluded as we expected. Another finca borders the property, and the land is used for farming, so tractors and cyclists pass now and then. We often heard sheep in the evenings. Four cats were living there in September 2022. Some were very friendly, and it’d be lovely if guests kept feeding them. The owners regularly look after the pool, rubbish and potted plants. We could order groceries through the rental agency, and they were waiting in the fridge when we arrived. Great service! The big downside for us was the access, especially since we left the house every day. The property is at the end of a very narrow paved road. The route to the Ma-13 is unpaved, with a kilometre of potholes that takes about five minutes. It can be stressful, and after dark, which came around 8pm in September, driving back was often an adventure. We arrived just before 10pm on our first night and felt the grass and bushes beside the paved access road were scratching our rental car’s paintwork. Electricity isn’t included and is billed directly to the owners. We paid €50 for almost two weeks, mostly because the AC had to deal with 35°C heat 🌞. It’s a very, very nice house, and I’d give the furnishings and pool five stars. The location is less than ideal if you plan to drive in and out every day. Still, we’d give the house itself five stars.

We spent a week here with a group of six and felt very comfortable. Everything matched the description, and we had a really relaxing time. We can wholeheartedly recommend the place. Thank you!
