Finding our way through the bushes was part of the fun, especially when we later discovered stairs just 100m away. I was up for the adventure and loved it. For locals, though, it seems to be an ordinary walk through a wasteland. If odd places and feeling good in them are your thing, you'd enjoy this.

We couldn't go inside the old defence tower, though we could enter the grounds and walk around it. It's interesting to see a structure dating from around 1599, even in such a derelict setting, with more neglected land all around. We spent about 10 minutes there. The area also offers photographers some striking scenes, quite different from the well-kept parts. I hope the local council recognizes the monument's value and turns it into a maintained tourist attraction.

The overgrown bushes spoil what could be lovely views. The area around the tower needs upkeep, and the ground should be preserved.

From the hill, there's a nice view across Alcudia Bay, and the tower itself is interesting. It's closed, so you can't look inside, but it's certainly worth walking over from Port d'Alcudia. The route also takes you past Alcudia's old power plant. It was built in the 1950s and has long been out of use, but still has a raw industrial beauty. I hope it isn't demolished, though apparently there are plans for that. Across from it are the former power plant workers' houses, along with a chapel and community building. The houses are run down and the area is fenced off now, but it still shows some of the recent history of Alcudia, Alcanada.

It's the best Majorcan defence tower we've seen, but it's been left completely neglected on a sad little wasteland site. You can park by the road and walk the 20m to it.
