We’ve eaten here many times, and the food is usually good. The suckling pig and lamb come out just right, and the lamb sweetbreads are delicious. The boneless pig’s trotters are a fun, unusual touch too. I can’t speak to the hotel since I’ve never stayed there, but the restaurant is fantastic. Thanks as well to the waitress whose name I can’t remember for being so patient with us, especially when we come in a big group. It’s a good meal at a reasonable price. I recommend it.

The worst part was breakfast. We were told to go at 10 to the owner’s bar, the only one in town, and found little that could be called a buffet. We asked for toast with tomato and coffee, but there was no tomato, so we went with butter and jam instead. The coffees came in dirty cups with dirty spoons, alongside a rotten sponge cake and a few muffins. The packaged butter and jam were expired. We’re usually easygoing and understood that she might have been busy at the bar rather than working in the hostel kitchen, but this was still incredibly audacious. We’d booked a “ROMANTIC” day package through WEEKENDESK, which specifically advertised a rural hotel night, a welcome gift, and buffet breakfast. That buffet was exactly what we wanted, and if they couldn’t provide it, they shouldn’t have sold it that way. When we arrived, we had to call someone to open the hotel door, though after that things were fine. The supposed welcome gift seemed to be candy from the Salamanca parade, left in a basket at reception for who knows how long. The room was small but normal, with a mattress that seemed worn in. A fan was listed, and at 34°C in Salamanca at 5 p.m. it would’ve helped, but there wasn’t one. The bathroom had two bars of soap and a shower gel dispenser in the tub, and that was it. I can’t give this a lower rating, but it’s almost reportable.

It was 37°C in the shade when we booked the suite, and the room felt like an oven. There was no air conditioning. The owner said it only worked in the common areas, but those weren’t working either. We eventually dug a fan out from the back of the closet. They apparently had a communion that day, so the kitchen was closed for lunch, dinner, and breakfast. Anyway, thanks for everything.

We barely slept, with the window open all night because there was no air conditioning or fan. The morning light and noise came straight in. The room itself was acceptable, but it was listed as having a fan, which would’ve been welcome in Salamanca at 34°C around five in the afternoon. This is really just a simple village hotel. We’d booked a “romantic” package with one night, a welcome gift, and buffet breakfast. The bottle of wine was handed to us before we left, and breakfast was at the owner’s only bar in town, not at the hotel. There was no buffet. We got moldy cake, a couple of muffins, stale toast, open and/or expired butter and jam, and dirty cups and spoons. I don’t recommend it. Had we known breakfast wasn’t a buffet and there was no air conditioning, we’d have stayed somewhere else.

The shower dispenser was empty when I went to wash. I booked through Weekendesk, where breakfast is described as a buffet, but they send you to a bar in the village instead. The menu in the app lists completely different dishes too, and the app’s picture doesn’t even match the village. It feels like a rip-off.
