Mas Perdiueta

It’s a very quiet area, about a 3-minute drive from town and the Spar supermarket. We did enjoy our stay, and the large farmhouse has four bathrooms. The huge dining table was great for getting together with friends, they’d left chopped firewood for the fireplace, and the old kitchen had everything we needed. The cold was the main problem. The heating was electric, and some rooms had tiny heaters that barely warmed them. Even with the heating on, we couldn’t go up to the unit for fear of tripping the circuit breaker. I imagine the heating had been turned on late before we arrived, because it took a whole day for the large house to warm up, and the first night was especially cold. There were no extra bedspreads or blankets, just the sheets. We were told not to move the furniture, push beds together, or change anything because it was very old and might break. The outdoor BBQ was filthy, and there weren’t any cleaning supplies.

We had a fantastic few days here with friends, and the owner was incredibly friendly. There’s a large outdoor area and a horse riding stable, plus heating and a fireplace inside. It’s a spacious house, well suited to a short trip with children and strangers.

The rooms were comfortable and the grounds spacious, and the owner was friendly. Still, the place needs a lot of maintenance to justify its price, and we felt it was poor value. The kitchen sink was blocked, the downstairs bathroom couldn’t be used, and a broken window pane hadn’t even been covered with cardboard or tape. The barbecue was too dirty to use. There were other frustrating things: radiators that wouldn’t heat, no extra blankets or pillows, and furniture so old we were afraid to move it in case it broke. The circuit breakers tripped whenever two small appliances were used together, so all 14 of us had to take turns at breakfast. There aren’t outdoor bins, so you have to take the trash to the village. You also have to make the beds when you arrive and strip them before leaving. With the window and bathroom repairs still outstanding, the price should have been lower. We hope Mr. Eduard invests in the house so tenants can enjoy what it could really offer.
