Hotel Alhaurín Golf Resort

I don't usually write hotel reviews, but there were enough problems during this stay that I wanted other people to know what to expect. This was my first visit and probably my last. It seems best suited to people who come to play golf and eat at the golf course, then use the room just to sleep. The hotel's outside town, so you'll need a car, or should expect taxi fares to nearby Alhaurin of 10 EUR one way. There's only one petrol station/restaurant close by. I also had to sign a paper at check-in saying food couldn't be taken into the room. I like to get takeaway and eat somewhere quiet, away from restaurant noise, but that wasn't an option. I ate in restaurants for the whole stay. The room WIFI didn't work from my first day until I left. WIFI was available at reception, but it wasn't fully stable, and the area was colder and a bit freezy in winter. I saw a recent review describing the same problem, so it seems to have been going on for a while without being fixed. Breakfast is ordered from a menu rather than served as a buffet. One day was especially awkward: the restaurant worker couldn't speak English, and even though I clearly explained through a Spanish translator that I wanted vegetarian food, he brought me "egg and meat." I left without eating. I hope this helps folks.

The staff were exceptional, and the bar team were kind and helpful. We had a lovely time at breakfast, and lunch was a surprise treat: my caesar salad was one of the best I've tasted. There was water pooled at the bottom of the plate because the lettuce hadn't been drained properly, but that's easy to fix. We came for a short stay near a family wedding in the mountains, although we usually choose somewhere on the coast. The interior feels warm and welcoming, though some parts could use updating, which we understand is already being addressed. On our first morning there was no water, but it was fixed quickly with little inconvenience. We probably won't return since we normally stay at coastal resorts, but I'd recommend this place to others.

The hotel feels like a dream, honestly, almost like paradise. The room was lovely, the AC was great, and the staff were lovely too. I'd recommend it, though you may need a car or taxi because it's a little remote.

For €25 euro per adult and €15 for children, the day pass includes pool access and a 3 course meal. I think children under 4’s are free. The pool has a great view, though it felt a bit cold at the end of June. Still, it was nice to get in when it was so hot outside. The menu was limited, with a couple of salads, a couple of fish choices, and ice cream and water melon for dessert. The food was good for the price, though not the nicest we’ve had in Spain.
