Parking nearby made it easy to get to Hostal Restaurante Alarico. We came several times during our stay, and the prices felt fair, especially since we had a bottle of wine with each meal. Everything we ordered was full of flavor and cooked just right, and there were so many dishes that we never managed to try them all. Our waiter, Manuel, soon felt like a friend. He was warm, attentive, and made us feel at home. The food and service were consistently good on every visit. If you're looking for a meal in Allariz, this place would be my first choice.

We decided to give the restaurant another try last week, but left disappointed. The stew was just edible, the baby squid was undercooked, and the broth came with an unwelcome surprise: there were "visitors" in the vegetables. I showed them to the waiter, who apologized, but we were still charged for the dishes we sent back because after seeing what was in them, we couldn't eat them. On our first visit, the food was edible, though there was plenty of room for improvement. The cod was the one dish everyone liked. The "homemade" puff pastry canes and industrial flan were disappointing. We had planned to try the place again, and did.

I really didn’t like our stay, and wouldn’t recommend the guesthouse. The room we were given was in a very bad spot and smelled like bathroom pipes evaporating. It was freezing, and the heating was awful. I don’t want to speak badly of anyone, but the experience was terrible.
