The night we stayed was Carnival, so we got a lively introduction to the village of Almadén. Hotel Gema worked well for our one-night stopover, which we chose based on other reviews. Our room was spacious, clean, quiet, and warm, with a big bathroom. The reception and restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant is on the lower ground floor, and you can take the lift. Would recommend Hotel Gema.

A new hotel in a central location, with a great restaurant serving local food on both the daytime and evening menus.

The receptionist was very nice, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The rooms are small and old, and the beds are awful. The mattresses are so uncomfortable that you feel the springs and sink into them. The hydromassage shower doesn’t work properly, and you can’t control the room temperature.

For the past 13 years, the receptionist has helped make our stays comfortable and pleasant. She’s very friendly, will give you a particular room if it’s available when you ask, and readily provides another key if you need one. A welcoming hotel, highly recommended.
