Blu Hotel Almansa

The breakfast was only okay, with some dry items that tasted shop bought. The carpets on our floor were dirty, and the room itself was only average for cleanliness. We had an executive room, but it looked really tired and badly in need of redecorating. The toilet wasn’t very clean either, and the shower had seen better days. Spanish hotels are usually good, even at two stars, but this one was pretty hopeless. I won’t stay again.

The evening meal in the restaurant was very good, and the house red was nice, though we were surprised there wasn’t a wine list. Getting to the hotel was easy, with plenty of private and public parking. We were only there for one night. Breakfast got chaotic when a large coach group arrived, and one staff member was left to refill food and clear tables. She did her best, but they needed another person and a second coffee machine.

At breakfast, the staff didn’t seem interested in clearing tables, so plates were left everywhere. They also asked to keep my passport at the front desk. When I objected, they returned it right away, but it was a strange policy. The hotel seems to have had a lot of potential, perhaps when it first opened, but it doesn’t feel maintained now. The WiFi was very unreliable, and there was a lot of wear in the room that had either been ignored or patched up carelessly. There was general dirt, including hair on the floor and bed and crumbs left behind from poor sweeping.

This is nowhere near a four-star hotel. The rooms, breakfast cups, hallways, everything was extremely dirty. If you don’t want other people’s hair all over your room or to touch filthy things, go somewhere else.
