Room 15 worked really well for our family, with an extra king bed, a twin and two bathrooms. We liked having views of the fountain and square from the front, while the bedrooms at the back stayed quiet despite the central location. The modern apartment was clean and well equipped, and the rooftop pool and bar remain a highlight for the city views. This was our third stay at HO. Puerta de Purchena, and it’s still a comfortable, convenient base in Almería. Everything is within walking distance, and we’d happily return.

The automated check-in was hard to use, and there was no one on site to help. Finding the hotel was tricky too, as the GPS led us to a different one. The pool was a letdown: it seems mostly for show. It might be usable in the morning, but the pool area is also the bar, gets very busy in the afternoon, and nobody uses the pool then. The rooms, though, are fantastic, large and well equipped. My wife and I only stayed one night, but it would suit a multi-night visit better.

There’s nearby construction, and the noise was so bad we couldn’t hear ourselves think. After we were moved to another apartment, we still couldn’t sleep at night because of either the cocktail bar on the fourth floor or the neighbours. The guy on the phone couldn’t help and didn’t know what to do, while he was in another country. I wouldn’t recommend this place. It ruined my holiday.

The roof terrace is mint, and there’s a nice cocktail bar up there too. The rooms are very spacious and have high ceilings.
