We had planned to stay here during our visit to Donana this summer, but we're bitterly disappointed by what the owners have done. They destroyed a wonderful colony of House Martins and put up hundreds of spikes that could injure the birds if they try to land, while stopping them from rebuilding their nests. It's very sad, especially in an area known for its wildlife, and reflects poorly on the place.

If you care about the natural world, please stay somewhere else. The hotel removed 700 House Martin nests from the building and put up anti-bird spikes in their place.

This isn't a typical hotel. It's a building of individual apartments, each owned by a different person, so they vary quite a bit. There's just a reception area, but some of the apartments inside are truly magnificent.

Nature lovers probably won't want to stay here. On January 13, 2020, nearly 700 common swift nests on the building were destroyed. Now the swifts have returned and circle desperately around the place they used to nest, where there are only spikes. It baffles me that someone would ruin the facade with spikes instead of enjoying a protected species that also eats bothersome insects. And if you're sensitive to bites, definitely avoid this place: with no birds and the marshland next door, the mosquitoes will eat you alive.
