Playa San Cristobal

All four meals were good, except the chips, which were overcooked. We ordered a large, enjoyable burger, a very nice pizza, a big juicy pork chop, and eggs, chips and Serrano. The paella tapa was tasty too. Service was quick and the staff very polite. We ate at the restaurant today, and the service itself was okay.

The location is lovely, just a few metres from the beach, with restaurants and cafes along the street. The man at reception was very friendly and got us checked in quickly. Our room was okay, clean, and not very big; the bathroom was clean too. But it was extremely basic: just hand soap, no toiletries, no hairdryer, nothing else. The walls are paper thin, so you hear everything, from people talking and walking around to using the toilet. We're early risers and go to bed earlier, but there was no way to sleep before everyone else in the hotel had gone to bed.

Eloisa, the manager and owner, is a rock star, and the staff are a 20 on a scale of 1 to 10. I know this area well, and this place is a diamond in the rough. The rooms are unbelievably awesome: clean, contemporary and downright wicked cool, with huge beds and a huge TV. I'm shocked by how good it is. I'm happy.

You get great sea views from this perfectly located place, and the rooms are clean and comfortable, though basic as you'd expect from a 1-star. But there was no soundproofing. Two separate groups of students chatted on the landings and kept us awake for hours. The food was okay, though the hot dishes came on cold plates, so the food itself soon got cold. There's no breakfast service since the bar and restaurant don't open until midday, but there are several cafes nearby. Next time I think we'll go up a star or two.
