Ramada by Wyndham Valencia Almussafes Hotel

All night, drunk young people wandered around shouting and knocking on doors, and with no sound insulation you could hear everything. It felt like the hotel had been turned into a hostel. The rooms weren’t cleaned properly: even after cleaning, nobody washed the floors before check-in or during our two-day stay. Nobody seemed to care about anyone else.

The pool put us off our planned swim. My daughter jumped in, but when I went to use the stairs I saw more than 10 large mosquito-like insects in the water, and one had been swimming around for about five minutes. There were also small worm- or larvae-like things on the edge beside the stairs. I was disgusted, and though my daughter was already in, I couldn’t let her stay and swim as we’d planned. There were no pool towels, so I used towels from the room. In the shower I noticed two strands of hair in different colors when we arrived, and the corners by the bed smelled like sweaty armpits, though the room otherwise looked mostly clean. The hotel looked great at first glance, and we booked a family room with breakfast for a quick overnight stop on our way to Barcelona. For the price, the breakfast wasn’t good. I’ve stayed in nicer hotels for the same price with much better breakfasts. Even my five-year-old daughter thought the ham and croissant tasted “weird.” It seemed like the sausage, eggs, and Spanish tortilla had been cooked the night before, refrigerated, then reheated in the morning.

The front desk staff were amazing, and I really appreciated how helpful the young women were. The maid and laundry staff I met were also very nice and did consistently good work. The maintenance men who came by were kind and fixed a few things quickly and efficiently. Bartender Megan was awesome. The hotel itself needs updating and cleaning. We had to switch rooms twice because of TV and electrical issues, and the lamps were rusty. The shades were dirty and rusty too, and it all felt out of date, although the bed was beautifully made. The pool was freezing, with kids screaming wildly, so it wasn’t peaceful. Kids were putting bubbles in the jacuzzi and peeing in it, with their parents’ permission, so I never used either the pool or jacuzzi. The pool chairs were very old and poorly cared for, with some black mold and chipped paint. Ashtrays by the pool and at the bar were disgusting and never seemed to get cleaned. The couches around the fire pit were filthy and falling apart, and the cigarette receptacle there needed attention. The one in the pet elimination area was broken too. The patio and fire pit floors were filthy. I’d like to return because the location is convenient, the price was reasonable, and the staff were very nice, but the place needs updating and a thorough clean.

After seeing the pictures, there isn’t much more to say. It was a horrible place, and I wouldn’t stay here with my family. It’s far from Valencia itself, with no shopping malls or big stores nearby, so you have to travel miles to do anything in the city. The property wasn’t very nice, and I’ll never use this hotel again. I’d planned to stay more than three days but changed my mind. There wasn’t even a mini fridge for food and drinks. I’ve used Wyndham properties in Canada, the US, and now Europe for four years, and this was a shock. Wyndham has been reliable, and the other Wyndham places I’ve stayed were far better than this Ramada. The Ramada in Madrid, on the other hand, is a very nice place.
