Casa Anita - La Almona Chica

We came to El Chorro to climb outdoors and didn’t want to rent a car. The cottage made getting around easy, with the train station just 300 mts away. Ella was generous and helpful with suggestions, and offered delicious food at a good price. After a sunny day, it was lovely to come back to the quiet. The cottage was clean, nicely decorated, and had plenty of amenities and comforts. It’s well located for climbing and hiking, and we found no need to take a bus back after visiting the amazing caminito del Rey. Excellent service.

We’ve stayed at Almona Chica in El Chorro four times and have always been happy to return. The apartments are lovely, thoughtfully prepared in a traditional Spanish rural style, and have pretty much everything you need. The kitchen includes a fridge, toaster, microwave, kettle, and gas stove. Ela is very friendly and caring, almost like family, and sorts out any problems as quickly as she can.

The operators put a lot of effort into making guests comfortable, and since our Spanish isn’t very good, we appreciated being able to communicate in English. The accommodation itself is cozy, clean, and well equipped, with plenty of dishes and kitchen tools, including a microwave, toaster, vegetable peeler, and sieve. A hiking trail crosses private land to the climbing sectors, so we could reach a couple hundred climbing routes without a car. And a special mention for Kotec, the incredibly lovable house cat who visited us every day and made our stay even sweeter. It was hard to say goodbye to El Chorro.

The hosts were wonderful, and the location was great, away from all the hiker chaos.
