Alp Hotel Masella

If you're without a car and want to be beside the ski resort for first lifts, this place will do. With a car, there are much better options in Alp, ten minutes down the mountain. The rooms were better than I expected, but still expensive for their standard. Breakfast and dinner were poor, with too little variety for the number of guests and the size of the hotel.

The location is great for a ski holiday, but the rooms are small and old. Breakfast was awful, and the same lunch and dinner food came around again the next day. It upset my stomach. Staff were a bit bossy and slow when we needed something. The toilets were so loud that flushing woke most of the floor. WiFi was especially bad: usually it wouldn't connect, and when it did, it took ages.

I enjoyed my week here. The hotel is right near the ski area, an easy walk away, and the lunch and dinner buffets were brilliant, with a good range of main dishes. Cleanliness could be better, though it's an older hotel, and the WiFi is weak even though you can get a signal. If you only speak English, there's a big language barrier. Try learning basic Spanish for please and thank you, and you'll see the staff aren't rude, they just don't understand you. For a couple of days, it's absolutely fine.

The instructors are helpful and make sure everyone gets the information they need to improve. They don't hold you back too much, either, and let you ski to your ability, which makes this a great place to learn. The food was much better than I expected, with something for everyone. I've heard the vegetarian choices are a little boring, but that doesn't affect me. I highly recommend this resort.
