Breakfast was exceptional, and room service was available, since the hotel doesn’t have a dining room. The room itself was clean, with a well stocked minibar, though the TV was complicated to use. Our taxi couldn’t get right to the hotel, so we were told to get out and walk 200 meters. There are lots of steps in old town Altea. We’d booked a sea view room, but didn’t get one. The hotel is 150 yards from the old town square, where there are plenty of restaurants.

We were won over by the breakfast, though we’ll leave the details so you can have your own little magic. It’s now our preferred hotel in Altea. We based our booking on its 45 reviews, all scored 5.0, and weren’t disappointed. It’s easy to contact the team through WhatsApp. There’s free parking about 250 meters away on foot, and once you arrive you can enjoy the lively charm of Altea old town.

We must have come at the wrong time of year. The room was too small for a long stay, with the TV at the side of the bed. The air con was above the bed and blew down on us. The bathroom was large and well appointed, but freezing cold. We gave up and went home early.

The location made everything easy, with the village square and restaurants less than a minute away. We arrived at Porta Nova Suites on April 28th and spent a perfect week in the Superior Suite. It was spacious, had a sea view, and included tasteful handmade furniture. Breakfast was a lovely start to each morning. Thanks to Melvin for the hospitality. Karin and I hope to see you next time!

Ingrid was so helpful with local suggestions, and when we had an early flight, she even set breakfast aside in the minibars for all four rooms the night before. We had a lovely stay at Porta Nova, with a nice sea view and a great location. Breakfast was lovely too.
