Lo Hotel del Poblet - Adults Only

The team were very professional, and I’m already looking forward to coming back. The Orchid room is a must, with its whirlpool tub in the room’s inner courtyard. There’s also a nice outdoor pool and small chill out area, giving you extra space. Breakfast from the fridge is a bit of a mixed bag, with drinks, bread and a small selection of canned sausages. The bottle of cava was a welcome touch, though.

The room was spacious, pleasant and well kept, and the hotel facilities were good. You can tell it’s designed as a place to relax and switch off. But there were some problems that affected our stay. The room had no extra blanket, so we were cold overnight and had to turn the heating up more than we wanted. The bigger issue was the jacuzzi: it smelled strongly of chemicals, and we had considerable skin irritation the next day after using it. That was unpleasant, and the maintenance or product dosage needs reviewing. The place has a lot of potential and good facilities, but these details, especially the jacuzzi, really affected the experience.

We came in the off-season to celebrate our anniversary, and the hotel was a letdown compared with what we expected from the online presentation and the price. The place felt neglected, with some broken things and other things left dirty. At check-in nobody greeted us or offered directions or recommendations. The cleaning staff member who answered the door seemed well intentioned, but couldn’t answer our questions or sort anything out. There were no toiletries, the TV remote didn’t work, the coffee maker was broken, and the few food items and drinks in the fridge were expired. We couldn’t believe all these issues, they’re not what you expect when booking a hotel like this.

The rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated, and the host gave us especially thoughtful attention. We loved our stay and the location was excellent. We visited in the off-season, though, and breakfast was the one thing that fell short. There was some bread, cold cuts, and juice in the fridge, but it didn't match the standard or price of such a lovely hotel. A voucher for a nearby bar would have been a nice option. That's our only criticism. I imagine the place is paradise in spring and summer.
