Hotel Domus Selecta Finca Eslava

We paid 81 euros, which was at least reasonable, and the hotel is very close to the train station. The bed was comfortable, but the room amenities felt outdated. We were woken early by garden work, with leaf blowers and machinery. Parking was a nightmare, and check-in took more than 25 minutes waiting in line. It’s charming and well placed for a wedding, but for an ordinary stay it needs renovations to feel like a real 4 stars hotel. To me, it seems more like a 3 stars place.

We’d been looking forward to a special occasion meal, but it was a real letdown. My partner’s medium to well done ribeye arrived raw and dripping with blood, with no vegetables, and the lamb chops seemed not to have seen the pan at all. There were hardly any chips on the plate either. We complained, but the response didn’t resolve things satisfactorily. The hotel complex looked beautiful, though we only visited for the restaurant. We were very disappointed by the food and service and won’t be returning. Such a shame.

This is a charming old villa converted into a hotel, with beautiful grounds and a swimming pool. Getting into town means calling a taxi, since it’s 2 km away and there’s no sidewalk.

The building and its history are beautiful, with lovely shared indoor and outdoor spaces. The rooms are basic but a good size. It’s at the edge of town, near commercial units and a busy road, though the road didn’t make it noisy. There’s plenty of free parking and breakfast was good. The restaurant looked fabulous, but dinner was AWFUL!!!
