Hostal Consejo de Aranda

For €30 we had a very spacious, bright room for the night, and everything was clean. I was unsure about sharing a bathroom, but it was spotless and only used by a few people, so it worked out perfectly. The hostel was fantastic, and I'd definitely stay again if I come back to Aranda de Duero.

The room was simple, clean, and very nice, with its own bathroom. The building feels modern and quite new, and the location is right in the center of Aranda. We were there on a weekend, though, and the bar just below the entrance made the street pretty noisy at night.

For 25 euros per person, maybe I shouldn't have expected much, but the bed was awful, with springs digging in and leaving me feeling battered in the morning. The pillow was paper thin and lumpy too. Cleanliness was basically nonexistent: one towel had a blood stain, probably menstrual blood, that looked like it would never come out. The shared bathroom was dirty, had no window or fan, and really needed more frequent cleaning. There’s also a pub downstairs open until the early hours. A disaster.

A few hours before we were due to arrive, they called to say our double room with a private bathroom wasn't available. They offered bunk beds and a shared bathroom for the same price, or a hotel 7 kilometers from Aranda. No apology, discount, explanation, or anything. We'd booked more than a week ahead, and they left us stuck during a long weekend when the city was packed and everything was booked.
