Aranjuez is lovely, and the walk through the Jardin de Principe to town is beautiful. From there, an efficient, inexpensive bus gets you to Madrid, which is why we'd use this site again, mainly as a base for Madrid. The site itself feels dated and could use an overhaul. The supermarket was poorly stocked and was hardly ever open, while the bar was adequate. The pool wasn't open during our stay. Our pitch was a good size, some facilities were more up to date than others, and the hot water was good.

The bar and restaurant were well organized, with friendly, helpful staff. The site was also well placed for the train station, with a clean, efficient service into Madrid. Toledo, known for steel and marzipan, is an easy drive and worth seeing for its history. It was lovely and quiet during the week, but our stay overlapped with a local festival weekend in May. The site filled up and got extremely noisy, with music and chatter still going at 2am. We saw no sign of security or anyone enforcing quiet hours. Getting here with a caravan can be dangerous because the road near the entrance has potholes everywhere. We know the site isn't responsible for the road, but take care if you visit.
The toilets were spotless, the showers had fantastic pressure, and the Halloween decorations were brilliant. We didn't eat at the restaurant, but it was busy with Spanish diners, which seemed like a good sign. There's plenty on site, and its location makes it handy for breaking up a drive from bilbao or santander, whether for one night or longer. We'd read plenty of mixed reviews and weren't sure what to expect. The staff made a great start: ground staff opened the barrier right away and parked us safely for check-in, and the friendly receptionist explained everything with a smile. They pointed out the available pitches and suggested one for our setup, which is almost 15 metres long. The pitch was so big we didn't need to unhitch the caravan, especially useful since we were leaving first thing the next morning. A couple of small things: the approach roads aren't great, though careful driving is fine, and if the ground is wet, choose your pitch with care. We saw deep ruts where people had struggled. That's all we can fault. Is it a five-star site? No, but at just 23€ with electricity, it was worth every cent. We've paid twice as much for much worse, and this place ticked nearly every box.
Aranjuez deserves more attention from the local authorities, and the road to the campsite is a mess, full of potholes. In the off-season the price feels very high. The place looks old, though the bathrooms have been renovated, and I didn't like the old tents left standing, which gave the area a shantytown look.
They offer clear-water tank filling to guests staying on the premises, but not to vehicles that aren't hosted there. That's a business choice. It seems they don't want certain customers coming by just for that service and are focusing on longer-term guests.
