The garden inside is stunning, and the views are unbeatable, whether your room faces the garden or the estuary. The whole building, inside and out, is well maintained, with lovely decor and attention to detail. Mabel and Raúl are incredibly kind, as are their nieces and granddaughters who help with breakfast and housekeeping. Such a delightful family. For a 1-star hotel, it holds its own against 4- and 5-star places, apart from the lack of an elevator to the first floor. There’s a generous breakfast, and the rooms are clean and good value for the quality. Private parking is included in the price, though spaces are limited and usually need to be reserved ahead.

The room we got was spacious, with a big comfortable bed and a view of La Toja Island. It was a charming family-run place with a peaceful feel, and the owners made us feel right at home. Breakfast had a good range of options. Our stay at Hotel Mabel exceeded what we expected. I’d highly recommend it for quiet, friendly service, and good value.
