El camino de Santovenia - Albergue - Hostel

The dorm was comfortable and had good showers, and there’s a pleasant little plaza where you can sit outside with a beer. The hosts are lovely, and the three-course dinner is good and inexpensive. It’s a 3 km detour from San Juan de Ortega, off the main Camino, but a great place to stay. The next day, it’s an easy walk to Ages, where you can rejoin the Camino and continue toward Burgos.

The host was so nice, she even drove out to collect me about 2 km before the end 😊😊. Though it’s a municipal albergue, it was very clean and well organized. I was nearly the only one there. It’s about 2 km from the main village, so it’s a nice quiet stop. There’s a restaurant on site where you can order dinner and breakfast; they leave breakfast for you by the entrance the next morning. Great value for pilgrims. I recommend it.

Raquel was such a welcoming host, kind and attentive throughout. The rooms were clean and warm, and the atmosphere in this small, charming town felt radiant. The dinner was the best we had on our trip through Spain. We’ve never had cod, or bacalao, this good in our lives! Best Camino experience for us. Muchas gracias por todo!❤️
