El Mirador del Rio de Arnedillo

We stayed in the duplex, and it was in awful shape, with leaks and a stovetop burner that didn’t work. The owner was unpleasant and left us waiting for three hours, apparently without knowing we were there. He also pays in cash to avoid declaring his income.

The mountain and river views are just what the name promises, and the hot springs at Arnedillo are under a 10-minute walk away along the riverside path. The apartment is at the lower end of town by the entrance, with a small parking area whose available space may depend on the season. You get in using a code from the owner, entered in the doorknob. Inside, there’s a living room and kitchen, one bedroom with an en-suite shower and sink, and a very small en-suite toilet. The kitchen is basic, but has a coffee maker, cookware, and utensils, enough for simple meals while passing through.

The terrace looking out over the river was the best part. The owner was lovely and very patient when we arrived, and the hot springs are an easy walk away. It’s simple, but has what you need for a few restful days. We had a very good stay.

The owner was so friendly and told us about all the things to see nearby. We also got a lovely welcome gift. The place has three roomy bedrooms and a terrace with incredible views, just right for lunch or dinner. We’d definitely come back.
