Barlovento

The hotel is beautiful and clean, right on the beach. The staff members were great, friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay and will definitely visit again.

My mom had trouble with all the stairs. The hotel layout makes the dining area awkward to reach: it’s on the ground floor, but you either have to go down stairs or walk all the way around. Aside from that, we had a good stay. It’s a quiet hotel with the beach right there, and seems great for elderly guests. There are three clean, nice pools, including one for children, though they were pretty cold when we visited at the beginning of May. Our room was spacious and clean, with a large balcony, and we got lucky with an upgrade to a partial ocean view. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The food was good but very German-oriented. At rush hour the buffet lines got long, and it took a while to find a seat. I thought it was odd that the soda fountains only had diet drinks, no Coke products, just local brands and Pepsi. I liked that staff tried to enforce the morning rule against reserving loungers. Even with the hotel full of Germans, only a few had towels on them, and we could always find two spots.

We had a beautiful week here as a family. The hotel is right by the beach, the rooms are decent with big balconies, and there’s evening entertainment too. The only downside was the long lines in the restaurant at meal times. Otherwise, an awesome, family-friendly hotel.

The food was good, and most of the staff were professional and helpful. One receptionist, though, shouted at customers, and I can’t see why the hotel employs her. I’m not rating the whole place poorly just because of her. I struggled to sleep at night because there’s no AC in the room and traffic could be loud. The beach by the hotel isn’t the best; walk 15min to Costa Calma for better sand. There are also lots of smokers.
