Apartamentos Westhaven Bay

We didn’t stay here, and after eating at the restaurant, we’re glad we didn’t. The one good thing was the location, perfect for watching the sunset. Four of us dined. One ordered the menu of the day, with an okay tuna salad starter. The rest had garlic and cheese bread that was burnt and dry. My cheeseburger was dry, with rubbery cheese, so I left it. The lamb was edible, but for 26 euros I expected better. The menu of the day main was edible too, but the chicken roulade was dry, very salty, and had an extra bit of cling film in the middle. Service was very slow. We waited at least 45 minutes for three main courses, then another five minutes for the fourth. We left without dessert, which was included with the menu of the day. I told staff about all my complaints and none of them seemed to care. When we asked to split the bill 50/50 across two cards, a staff member was rude and pointed to a sign saying one bill per table, paid with one card. I won’t even describe the live entertainment that started halfway through the meal. This must be the most expensive restaurant in Selencio. Would not recommend.

We went to westhaven bay today, and it was such a letdown. It’s usually been fantastic, which makes it a shame that we won’t eat there again. Staff were inattentive. They came to take our food order and said they’d get drinks first, then never returned to take the order. Eventually someone took it, but both salads arrived wrong. I’d ordered tomato and feta and got barrata instead, while the Caesar came with cheap spicy chicken. We kept saying we wanted feta, but were still told barrata. The restaurant service was poor.

We didn’t stay overnight, so I can’t speak about the rooms, but service at reception and in the restaurant was amazing. My son and I came for the day. It cost 15 euros each, and they put 10 euros per person back onto a card for use in the restaurant. The usual sunbed hogging was going on. Twenty beds on the top deck were taken by towels pinned down, with no bags and nobody around for hours. Workers walked past as if it was allowed, so I assume it is. The towels should be taken to reception.

The food was great and the location lovely, but restaurant service needs attention. We waited ages to order dessert and pressed the button five or six times, but were ignored each time. Staff seemed more focused on looking after their Belgian customers than everyone else. In the end we left and had dessert somewhere else. Such a shame, it put a dull finish on the evening.
