Apartamentos HG Cristian Sur

We came with family. The location was decent, the downstairs bar area was nice, and it had everything we needed. Our room was basic but had a large balcony. It was cleaned almost every day, but there was no air con, just a noisy fan. There are no lifts, which could be a problem with a pram or wheelchair, and Wi-Fi isn't free. The pool lifeguards were my biggest complaint. I don't know if something happened before, but they seemed overprotective and pulled people up for almost anything. My six-year-old daughter was taken out of the pool several times just for swimming, usually while standing and playing with her 14-year-old sister. I watched her closely from the sunbed, but the lifeguard seemed unhappy unless I sat beside the pool or got in. It was strange, since she's a capable swimmer, though we also put her life jacket on. It dampened the holiday, so we spent most days at the beach. Bar staff sometimes seemed rude if you caught them on a bad day. The hotel was good overall, but I'm not sure I'd return.

The grounds were spotless, the pool clean, and reception very accommodating. But most rooms are dated, with cracked tiles and a generally poor state of repair. Since it's a privately owned complex, you may find better rooms or services through third parties. People reserving sunbeds and disappearing for the day needs to stop. As a self-catering place it's okay, but could be better. You get what you pay for.

My stay was okay, though the hotel had several drawbacks. There were ants in the room, and basic things like Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and use of the safe all cost extra, which was disappointing. Since I was on holiday with friends, I wish I'd been given a room closer to theirs. That would've made the trip nicer.

The heated pool was just right, and the rooms were kept clean. Cristian Sur was a great place for a perfect week away, and we'll be back. The Wi-Fi was the one downside, but we managed.
