The food was a highlight, especially the light, crispy tempura vegetables and the chuletón de Avila, which was perfectly prepared and made the most of the region’s famous beef. Breakfast had a decent spread of traditional Spanish staples, including good charcuterie and authentic tortilla. Inside Avila’s walls, Hotel Palacio de Los Velada has a wonderful historic setting and a surprisingly quiet, quaint feel, while still being central. The renovated rooms are very spacious and combine historic architecture with modern comfort. The bathroom is impressively modern, with updated fixtures and finishes that bring luxury amenities while respecting the building’s heritage. A special place with a prime location and quality dining.

A beautiful hotel in a great location, with a lovely bedroom and nice staff. The breakfast buffet was really excellent, with a great choice and quality. We had a very enjoyable stay.

There are two lovely patios here, one for breakfast and another where you can sit for lunch or dinner. The hotel looks really nice inside, and the rooms do too.

November made the stay very affordable, and the breakfast was top class. We had a large, nice room after asking for a quiet one, and the service was friendly. The hotel is a lovely old palace beside the cathedral. One snag: the shower is over the bathtub, with separate hot and cold taps, so getting the temperature right can mean freezing and then steaming yourself a few times. Still, I warmly recommend it.
