Sofraga Palacio

The presidential suite was amazing. It was huge, with a bathtub right in the room, and having the actual Walls as an exposed wall through the room and hallways was so cool. The bed was massive and comfy, just right for us since we like a firm one. We also used the 10% discount at their restaurant, our favourite in Ávila, and it didn't disappoint. Highly recommend, whether you're staying, grabbing a meal, having coffee, or doing all three.

It's a lovely mix of modern and historic, with the hotel attached to the ancient wall just inside the city gate. The Sofraga has a lot of history to discover in its public areas. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and the in-room coffee machine is a real plus. We enjoyed the cafeteria/bar and its food, though we didn't try the other dining areas. I can't imagine finding anywhere nicer or more historic in Avila.

Hard to find anything to fault after a first-class couple of days here. Beautiful setting and hotel, excellent staff, restaurant and rooms.

Oh, Sofraga Palacio, we miss you already. Our room, #207, faced the front of the hotel and had a beautiful view of the cathedral. It was fantastic, with a large comfortable bed, a wonderful shower, properly full-sized towels, a powerful hair dryer and a mini fridge stocked with free water daily. The TV connected to our phone for streaming. We arrived early for check-in, and a lovely woman with very good English looked after our luggage until the room was ready and suggested places to see. I wish I'd caught her name. She was the best! Weekend breakfast had cold meats and cheeses, Spanish omelet, croissants, cereal and yogurt, plus a menu with eggs, pancakes and other options. The avocado toast was five-star. The restaurant downstairs had a delicious menu. Get the lambchops! Room service was incredibly fast, and the Tiramisu was great.
