Parador De Baiona

The castle walks are so impressive when you first come up to them. The staff were gracious and welcoming, the food was stellar, and sitting in the room's chairs with that view was wonderfully relaxing.

The best parts were the pleasant decor, good light and ventilation, and comfortable spaces to sit. The views and location were beautiful, and the staff were polite and well trained, though some were friendlier than others. Overall the service was good. The food wasn't expensive for a four-star hotel, but it wasn't very good value either. Other places offer better for the price. In the bathroom, the wall-mounted holder came loose while I was in the bathtub, and I fell. I wasn't seriously hurt, but an older guest could have been. The screws were completely rusted. I asked them to check the other rooms, and they offered breakfast, worth 18 euros, as compensation.

Staying in this medieval castle was an amazing experience and a great stop on the Camino. The buffet breakfast was good fuel for the next day's journey.

The staff were phenomenal, and the view from room 324 was amazing. But when I first entered the room, there was a strong smell that made it seem like there might be serious damp throughout the walls. Management needs to address that quickly, as it could be a health hazard. Both bathroom sink faucets smelled like sewage every day, suggesting a serious problem with the pipes and another possible health concern. There were no window screens to keep mosquitoes out. We came hoping to open the windows, feel the cool breeze, and hear the ocean, but staff advised us to keep them shut.
