Hotel Montarto

After a hard day of skiing, this spa is worth a visit. I came as a non-hotel guest and booked the 1h30 ticket. Reserving by phone was easy, and we got a very warm welcome. Towels, flip-flops, and lockers were provided. The sauna and relaxation room were great. The jacuzzi and hammam could be a little hotter, though. The cold plunge and ice are a must if you want all the benefits of the spa.

The outdoor pool area is spacious and nice, but I wouldn't return. This doesn't feel like a 4-star hotel, especially given the food and room sizes. Our renovated room was ridiculously small. With a baby, my partner and I could barely move around. There were a couple of steps near the workspace that seemed easy to trip over when leaving the bathroom area. The shower and sink had no door, so there was no privacy, and even washing hands made noise in the room. Shower humidity also spread into the room. The toilet was in a tiny enclosed space that got awfully hot in summer, with no ventilation. There was no fridge either, and the room got very hot with no air circulation. The nights were cool, but it still felt like there was nothing to breathe. The food was disappointing, worse than breakfasts I've had at 2-star hotels. With half board, breakfast was the same each day and had little choice. No fresh orange juice, and only cheap cheese and meat with barely any variety. The fresh eggs and coffee were good. Dinner was tasteless and repetitive, with chicken every day, which seemed like the cheapest frozen meat. Not a 4-star hotel.

A really lovely hotel, with clean rooms, good food, and good service. Highly recommend.

The breakfast and location were the only good parts for me. The rooms were tiny, with barely enough space to open the door. It felt as if they'd taken a standard room and cut it in half in the last IKEA remodel. The bathroom was squeezed into a little closet, and the shower was open to the vanity and the rest of the room. There were two small single beds rather than a king or queen, with hardly any room to walk alongside them. The staff seemed aloof, and getting service at the bars was difficult. I thought the hot tub was included, but it's reservation-only and costs 23 euros per person. Being packed in with 12 other people in a warm, chlorinated pool? No thanks. This hotel should have a more appropriate rating, maybe 2 stars or 3 at most.
