I spent two days feeling uncomfortable around unfriendly staff, and left breakfast because I didn’t feel welcome, especially after paying for it. At about 10:05, the melon had run out and when I asked for some, I was told there wasn’t any. I got the same answer when I asked for jamón. It seemed the staff member just wanted to clear everything away quickly. We arrived around 1 a.m. and no one at reception spoke English. When my husband asked if the receptionist spoke English, she simply repeated his words back. It was rude and unprofessional. Then we found we’d paid for a junior suite but got an ordinary room, with a bad sweaty smell and hair on both the bed and in the bathtub. I expected good food, nice accommodation, and friendly people. It was the opposite, and this was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. The hotel doesn’t understand hospitality, treats guests rudely, and can’t even provide basic English communication at reception. Totally unacceptable.

It was lovely to stay in the city centre after visiting Barbastro during the day over many years. I’ll hopefully be back soon, and secure parking behind the hotel was a real plus. The receptionist seemed a little serious at first, though we got a smile from her by the end. The renovated hotel pleased us in every way. Our room was spacious, clean, and nicely decorated, with a comfortable bed, complimentary bottles of water, and more sockets and switches than I’ve seen anywhere. The breakfast was good and plentiful, and the dining room still has a couple of old features. I remembered eating a set three-course lunch with bread and wine included for €3 in the locale about 25 years ago, so I was curious to see the hotel now.

Parking can be tricky because it’s in the inner city, but I’d definitely book again. The hotel is beautiful, right in the city center, with clean, nicely equipped rooms and caring, lovely staff. Breakfast doesn’t have many options, though the food quality is outstanding.

The meal was very good, and service was quick and great. There’s a large dinner menu, so choosing isn’t easy. I only went to the restaurant.

The penthouse rooms were fabulous, but breakfast was a letdown. The basic selection was very limited, and eggs cost extra.
