Apartment Poblenou

We had a great stay for a great price in a lovely part of Barcelona, and we’ll certainly be back. There are loads of good restaurants, bars, and shops right nearby, plus a wonderful beach a few hundred metres away, so there’s plenty to do. The construction work wasn’t an issue at all. It stopped in the evening and only happened during the day, and it wasn’t too bad. My daughter could still take a solid nap at 2 PM despite the noisy work, so I think most people would be fine. We stayed in an XL room with two double beds, which suited our family of three perfectly. It was much bigger than we expected, simply but elegantly decorated, with high ceilings and a charming little terrace overlooking the street. The bathroom was right opposite the room rather than technically inside it, since there were two full-size double beds, but it was private and just for our use, so that wasn’t a problem. The terrace and breakfast area were lovely, with free tea and coffee. Anna and Mercedes were amazing, helpful, and friendly. The front desk wasn’t always staffed, but someone was always around or just a quick WhatsApp message away. My only slight niggle, and the reason I wouldn’t give it five stars, was that noise travels between neighbouring rooms. I’m sure we could be heard too, since my teething 18 month old probably kept a few people up at night. Sorry!

Breakfast is well worth the €15. You choose what you want the night before, and they prepare it while you enjoy the view from the beautiful terrace or breakfast room. The food quality and amount were both good for the price. The staff were welcoming and helpful, kept the place clean and inviting, and greeted me with a smile whenever I came in. They also contacted me before arrival and before the breakfast order deadline, and helped when I got lost on the way to check in. I stayed at Hostal Poblenou for five nights and really loved it. It’s right in the heart of the neighborhood, a five minute walk from the beach and just steps from the busy la rambla, with lots of cafes, restaurants, and ice cream shops. My double room was just like the online pictures, cutely decorated, and had a comfortable bed and air conditioning. My only complaint is that I didn’t stay longer in Barcelona so I could spend more time at Hostal Poblenou. It’ll be my go-to place when I visit again. The terrace was a lovely place to sit with coffee or tea, and the plants made it feel cozy. My mom and I were in Barcelona for a long weekend of sightseeing, and this place worked perfectly for that. Transit is easy to reach, with lots of shops and restaurants nearby, and the streets around the hotel are clean and charming. We also appreciated the free filtered water at reception, so we didn't need to carry bottles around. Our room came with towels, linens, shower gel, shampoo, and a hairdryer. The staff were friendly and helpful. I'm glad we stayed here, and grateful for everything.

The building has an older, charming feel, so the soundproofing isn't perfect, but it stayed quiet during our visit. We spent nine days here and had a great time. The staff were all very friendly, and our room was clean and practical. The location was ideal, with plenty of shops and restaurants just steps away and the beach a short walk from the hotel.
