Posada El Ángel de la Guarda

A comfortable, clean place to stay along the Camino de Santiago, with attentive staff and a decent breakfast. It was very hot during our visit, and since the rooms clearly don’t have air conditioning, some fans would be helpful. It did cool off reasonably well at night.

Set in a quaint Spanish village, this boutique hotel looks out over beautiful surrounding hills. The owner adds a personal touch that makes the place feel intimate and inviting, almost like a movie setting. Thoughtful details and an exquisite breakfast make the stay feel special. To me, it’s a five-star experience whatever its official rating.

The hostess was extremely nice, and I really appreciated her. The place was cute and clean. They did my washing as a service, though the dryer was broken. One odd thing: I noticed for the first time that my heartbeat made the bed squeak. It was weird to hear that noise with every beat.

We had a restful, lovely night during our Camino walk. The room was comfortable, with a quaint rural feel, and breakfast was great. When one of our group had trouble with a foot, the proprietor went well out of her way to help us. She really was our guardian angel!
