Hostal Greco Madrid

The biggest draw is how close Hostal Greco Gran Via Madrid is to everything. Shops, sights, restaurants, and pubs are an easy walk away, so getting around on foot saves time and transport money. Reception is staffed around the clock, the staff are generally friendly, and the common areas are cleaned daily. Rest was the main problem for me. Street noise from Gran Via is heavy, and the older rooms don't insulate it well. Staff noise early in the morning adds to it. There's no air conditioning, which could be uncomfortable in warm weather, and the towels smelled bad. You also have to rely on reception to get into the building, with the doorbell and phone going off continually, which felt intrusive and inconvenient. It's a practical place if being right in central Madrid matters more than comfort. Light sleepers, or anyone wanting air conditioning and a more modern, well-kept room, may find the downsides too much. If you're on a budget and willing to trade some comfort for the location, it could still work.
