Cuevas Al Jatib

The team at Cuevas Al Jatib were so kind, friendly, and attentive. My mom and I enjoyed the Hammam and a massage, as well as dinner and breakfast, and everything was fabulous. We loved our stay, and I’m looking forward to coming back this fall with my husband and stepdaughter.

The staff were friendly and did what they could to help, but the food was disappointing, seemed not fresh in our experience, had no vegetables in sight, and was very overpriced for the quality. We ordered two beef burgers with tomatoes and salad, but what arrived wasn’t recognizable as what we’d ordered. The chicken breast and chips came as a kind of mush in a bun. One of us got food poisoning from the poorly prepared meal, leaving bread and cheese as our only option for the rest of the stay. The water also went off on the night and morning of the first and second day, which was unpleasant. The cave itself was not clean, with dirty sheets and hairs in the bed. I’ve never stayed somewhere that got so many things wrong. It’s a shame, because this place could have been an amazing stay.

We had a peaceful few days surrounded by lovely scenery, and Baza is close by for a wander and a meal. The caves felt surprisingly warm and cosy, helped by the central heating and log fires. The accommodation is quirky and unique, with all the room facilities you could want, including a hob and oven. It was disappointing to learn only the day before arrival that the restaurant and bar on site were closed, so we had to go into Baza for our first night. Still, it’s a great spot for a few restful days in nature.

For anyone after a different kind of hotel stay, the rooms are built into the mountainside and come with modern conveniences. We also had a great meal in the restaurant.
