Hotel Beasain

Really tidy and clean. I’d highly recommend it.

For a service station hotel, the outside might make you expect the worst, but at 40 euros a night it’s honestly fantastic. The rooms are modern, the beds are clean and comfortable, and parking is free. You can also use the gas station shop around the clock. The bar there is great too, especially the Spanish omelet.

I stayed earlier this week, and I wouldn’t come back. I don’t usually leave bad reviews, but I’d rather pay a little more for somewhere more decent. The hotel is at a Repsol gas station, and around 3 or 4 in the morning they were baking pre-baked bread. When the oven door opened, the fire alarms in the rooms went off, making an enormous noise. At a gas station, you don’t know what’s happening when that alarm sounds. There’s no dinner service, and even with breakfast included, drinks cost extra. The hygiene was also troubling. Bread bags were on the floor, with many loaves lying around outside them. I took a picture, and the health department has already been told, so they’ll be making a surprise visit one of these days. Once was enough for me.

The staff were super friendly, and the room was spacious, comfortable, and really nice. You can hear absolutely everything, though. There’s a separate entrance from the gas station, but it was closed, so I had to walk through the shop, which I didn’t particularly like. Getting to the hotel on foot is difficult, and it’s a bit far from town, right beside the highway. Even so, things were quite good overall.
