Villa Andalucia

There’s plenty of room in this property, and the plants around it look amazing. But our arrival was a rough start: we waited about 30 minutes to be let in, even though I’d discussed arriving early with the landlord that morning and was told we could go straight to the villa after landing. When I called, he said his friend was out buying food for us. Standing in the heat on the street wasn't great. We would have preferred soap and toilet paper in every bathroom. Only some had toilet paper, and just one had liquid soap. The landlord says I never raised the problems, but I have emails showing otherwise, and I’ll report it to TripAdvisor. The grill chain was hanging by a thread and didn’t seem safe to use, especially as I’d told him we planned to cook there. The internet barely worked, then stopped altogether. I sent two separate emails about those issues and got no response. I didn't bother raising other things, like broken beds in the upstairs room and possibly a few others. The fountain wasn't working and had a large piece broken off, but I didn't mind that much since it was only cosmetic. What made me furious was the lack of soap and cleaning products for the kitchen and bathrooms, apart from washing-up liquid. My new husband got a stomach bug, with constant vomiting, diarrhoea, and awful stomach pains, which was a terrible start to our honeymoon. I got it too a day later. We were eating at the villa until then, and we had several very experienced cooks, including a chef, so the meat couldn't have been undercooked. I believe the germ must have been on a surface somewhere. A hospital visit sorted me out. Bring your European health insurance card and passport, or travel insurance, because treatment can be expensive without them. The deposit alone is €200. There were 15 of us, so other guests might have more to add. I’m very disappointed with how the landlord handled everything, and I hope the service improves.
