Hostal Ondina

This hotel/hostel wasn’t what it seemed, and the place was shocking. When we arrived there were no staff around. We went for a walk and came back, but still found no staff, and the restaurant was closed even though it was Friday evening. Calling the rooms basic would be an understatement. There was no drinking water or way to get any, no internet code, and nobody to ask. There was literally nothing nearby. And why are there two listings for the same property on Booking.com, one as a 2* hostel and one as a 3* hotel? It’s the same awful place, with the same photographs.

There are no shops and very few restaurants in the area, so I’d bring a car or plan meals ahead. The location is amazing, though, about a 15-minute walk from three of the most beautiful beaches on the Costa Brava. Our room was cheap and had everything we needed, and the staff were always nice and happy to help with advice or extra requests. We had a lovely time at the hotel.

The location is stellar, just a one-minute walk to the beach and the heart of the city, with amazing restaurants really close by. The concierge was very helpful with parking. There’s no elevator, so lots of luggage could be difficult, and the Wi-Fi doesn’t really work on the upper floors. Still, we had a great experience!

The sea view was lovely, and the beach is an easy walk away. Our room was quiet, and no one disturbed us while we were there. The rooms are very simple, but the price felt fair for what we got. There’s a restaurant too, though we didn’t try it.
