The waitress made a big difference for us. She carefully explained the menu and pointed out that the sirloin came with mushroom cream sauce, which mattered because I'm allergic to mushrooms, fungi, truffles, and the like. We didn't even have to ask. Her service deserves top marks. We'd planned to order beef burgers for Sunday lunch, February 15th, but after seeing the dining room and hearing the menu, we changed our minds. That turned out to be a great choice. The chickpeas with tripe were so tender they practically melted, the scorpionfish pâté was really juicy, and the beef cheeks were rich and tender. The potatoes were fresh, not frozen. The menu and dessert selection were both huge, and even though we were already stuffed, we managed rice pudding good enough to lick the bowl and a creamy Oreo cake. Everything was beyond amazing, a 10 out of 10. We walked around Belmonte afterwards to recover from all that food. We'll be back soon!

I arrived at the hotel to find that four of the several rooms we'd booked smelled bad. I can't say what my companions' rooms were like, but mine had hair on the sheets and the bathtub looked like this when I first got there. I won't return.

The location is great, which makes this year's stay even more of a shame. I've been here two years in a row, but this time the hotel was a complete failure. The room was filthy, with cigarette butts on the balcony, stained sheets, and a horrible smell. Roberto clearly isn't managing it anymore. The lovely breakfast buffet they used to have is gone, too. There are cheaper hotels nearby that are better. I won't come back. Just disappointing.

We had a lovely first trip with our four-month-old, largely thanks to Roberto and Conchi. They were so kind and attentive, and everyone on staff helped us feel comfortable. The rooms were fine and breakfast was plentiful. The setting by the river is idyllic, and the town is lovely to explore. We'll definitely return.
