Benaladid has lovely local restaurants, peaceful riverside walks, striking scenery, and nearby towns and cities that are easy to reach. The house itself sits on a steep, tangled set of narrow streets, so a large rental car may not make it through. It’s a traditional, rustic family home that Jose Miguel has thoughtfully turned into a special place to stay, with an added patio and swimming pool. We were glad he arranged firewood for the open fire, since evenings can get chilly outside summer even in Andalucia, especially with the unpredictable weather. We’ve just come back from a great trip and would love to return, ideally in midsummer to use the pool.

We only managed two nights in this lovely rustic home, but I’d happily come back. It suits such a beautiful village perfectly. Lucky for us, it’s just an hour and a half from home.

The villagers are so welcoming, and our children spend the day there like locals, then can’t wait to return and see their friends. The house feels right at home in the village, with a lovely fireplace and decor that suits the setting. The host is thoughtful about making guests feel welcome, and we’ve stayed twice already. Each visit seems to bring another improvement. At Christmas, there are lots of free activities for everyone, including concerts, walks and churros. We do miss the bar in the village square, which closed a few years ago. On New Year’s Eve, though, the cultural center opens as a bar with a DJ 😜

We first came 15 years ago and still feel at home here. Jose Miguel is friendly and helpful, and the fireplace draws really well. The patio has been renovated, along with several other improvements. We still need to come in summer and give the pool and barbecue a try. 10
