Mac Puerto Marina Benalmadena

Dinner was well organized, and I liked that every guest had their own table. The food was fresh, high quality and really tasty. I have histamine intolerance, but I was able to eat everything without getting a stomach ache. The staff were so warm and kind, and we felt welcome. Amazing hotel.

The marina location is first class, with loads of restaurants nearby. Our B&B stay included a huge breakfast selection, with food being replenished all the time. The hotel also packed a sandwich, fruit and juice for us when we had to leave early for an excursion. There was a singer in the lounge every night, and the performances were a high standard. We especially enjoyed Oskar Castillo. Drinks there weren’t too pricey, a large glass of wine was €4.30. The room had lots of storage and coat hangers, and included two beers, two waters and two soft drinks. Tea and coffee were topped up as needed. We got a wee drink on arrival, and reception were always welcoming and helpful.

We’ve stayed at several hotels over New Year, and the gala food, drinks and entertainment have always been included in the price. Here, we got the food and wine, but had to pay another €50 each for the entertainment. I know €50 for a meal, drinks and entertainment could be good value on its own, but that’s on top of the half board and nightly entertainment we’ve already paid for, plus the New Year premium. I think asking for more is disgraceful, especially since we weren’t told when booking. So we’re sitting in our room with a bottle of vodka, coke and ice. We’ll never book here again.

For our hen weekend, the clean rooms and good location were the positives. The service was disappointing the whole time. We were often met with rude or inattentive staff, and waited a long time to order drinks in the evening. At breakfast, our group was made to feel unwelcome when we sat together. There were also inconsistent remarks about clothing that seemed unnecessary and badly handled. The atmosphere and customer service let the hotel down, so I wouldn’t recommend it, especially for groups or special occasions.
