Hotel Best Benalmádena

We had a fantastic stay and would definitely recommend it. The staff were lovely and there were really good food options. We were lucky to get a top floor room with views of both the sea and mountains.

The rooms were decent, old but comfortable. Only one staff member spoke English, and they were working at the bar twice a week, so if you only speak English this may not be the place for you. My whole family of four, including me, got food poisoning and were vomiting and sick all day for three or four days straight. It seemed to be happening to others too, as we could hear and see other people clearly unwell. After two or three days there, everyone getting sick and the lack of English speakers made this a really bad place for us.

The sea was cold. We stayed as a family in July 2025, and the food reviews we’d seen turned out to be true, despite our thinking they might have been written by competitors. After two days at the hotel, we caught some kind of intestinal infection. Staff said it was a virus, though everything was fine in nearby hotels. We couldn’t eat anything except dry bread and water. We had full board, so food was included, but drinks cost extra. What upset us most was having to pay for ordinary water.

The beach is only about 100 meters away, reached through a gate in the hotel grounds, and two loungers with an umbrella cost 14 euros. We spent a week here together in mid-October and were very happy with our stay. Our spacious room was in a six-story building and had a sea view, plus a double bed for each of us. It seemed set up for a family with children, so there was plenty of room for two adults. They left us two bottles of water and two soft drinks at check-in, and the bathroom had what we needed, from soap and shower caps to combs. We'd read some worrying comments about the food, but it turned out better than we expected. The restaurant staff wore gloves and masks, dirty plates were taken away quickly, and the manager sometimes controlled entry when it was busy. Hand sanitizer was available all over. We liked the food quality, and there was fruit and ice cream, though the desserts looked tastier than they were. The outdoor areas and pools were clean, and we'd never seen pools fenced off after hours for guests' safety before. We'd happily stay here again if we return to the Malaga region.
