Holiday World Resort

I’ve stayed here before and got great value this time too, so we can’t complain. The buffet food is fairly good. There’s lots of space at the beach club, thankfully, while the hotel pools have plenty of competition for loungers. The main drawback is the location, about 15 or 20 minutes from the main strips.

The nearby beach is an easy walk and well worth a visit. Our 18 month old adored Dalila and Cathy in the crèche, and would run over to them squealing happily. The kids club staff were fantastic and so sweet with her. My 5 year old loved the evening entertainment and is still singing and dancing to 'PTY'. We all had stomach upsets, and the cheap ground-floor rooms were noisy in the evenings until 11pm, which really doesn't suit a young family. After we changed rooms, it was totally fine. A real mix of good and bad. Be careful about what you eat, and with young kids, get an upper-floor room, ideally on the quiet side.

The restaurant staff were excellent and there was a decent choice of food, though it was average. The Maitre D, however, was rude and unwelcoming. Reception staff were also rude and unhelpful. There were no luggage porters or room service, and loud music, games and competitions played around the pool daily from 10 am to 10 pm. The water park is a dreadful trek across a motorway-style bridge. This feels more like a holiday camp than a four-star hotel, and shouldn't be marketed as one. Avoid!

The hotel and room are both beautiful. It’s a lovely place, though it’s quite far from the city if you like wandering around.
