Finca El Huertezuelo

The views are spectacular, and it’s a wonderful place to disconnect since there’s no cell service, only Wi-Fi. The host was very friendly, which makes the poor condition of the facilities a real shame. Our air conditioner seemed almost burned out, and the toaster was in the same state and kept switching off. The common room microwave was yellowed, with a black scorch mark. The furniture looked mismatched and tired, the chairs seemed ancient, and the armchair covers barely hid the stains. The sheets were pilled and uninviting. In the double bedroom there was only one outlet, the light didn’t work, and there were cobwebs on the ceiling. A bit of investment and care would improve the place and make people want to return. I imagine I’m not the only one who feels this way.

The room and the views were beautiful, but a noisy family staying next door meant we didn’t really get to relax. We’d booked the suite specifically for the jacuzzi and paid extra for it. When we arrived and switched it on, it was leaking, apparently because of previous guests. I know that wasn’t their fault, but when we raised it and reminded them we’d paid extra for that feature, they offered nothing for the inconvenience. Honestly, that left a lot to be desired.

Such a beautiful, peaceful place. We loved it, and it’s great for a trip as a couple, with kids or with friends.

We had a fantastic week here in August, and the service was excellent. The house was really nice, though it could use some updating. The kids’ facilities were excellent, and being able to bring our pet was a great bonus.
