Camping Aneto

Maria was the highlight of our stay. She worked at the bar and restaurant, and the service she gave us was the best we could have hoped for. She worked hard all evening and was one of the loveliest people we’ve met on our hike so far. Nothing was too much trouble. We were camping here in mid August while hiking the GR11, and although we hadn’t booked, the staff found us a spot when we arrived. The Supermacado had the supplies we needed for the hike. We planned two nights in our rented motorhome, then stayed for six. The 7.2m campervan was easy to get in with. We may have been the only campers during the week, though some cabins were occupied, and the toilet and shower blocks were still open, clean, heated, and had plenty of hot water. We really enjoyed the campsite, which made the payment experience all the more frustrating. They charged more than the price we’d been told, and the receptionist admitted it was their mistake but didn’t do anything about it. Another receptionist witnessed the conversation and said the same thing had happened the other night, as though charging guests a different rate and leaving it unresolved was fine. We’d kept putting off leaving because we liked the place, but this was unacceptable. Very, very frustrating.

We went hiking straight from the campsite, so we didn’t need to take the car. The facilities were nice, and although it isn’t the cheapest place, we thought it was well worth it. We camped with friends for three nights in summer, on the busiest weekend because of the Aneto-Posets trail. They don’t take bookings for stays under a week, so I’d recommend arriving early Friday afternoon on summer weekends if you want a good spot.
