Hotel Joya

The hotel was wonderfully clean, and our room was cleaned every day, with fresh towels and the bed made. The pool and jacuzzi were warm and very clean, as were the seating areas and loungers. There’s a little hut where you can order soft drinks, slush, alcohol, and food. My mother in law and I stayed for a week on the fourth floor and used one of the two lifts. Levante beach is about a 10 minute walk away, or they’ll call a taxi for you if walking is difficult, which costs 5-6 euro. The staff were lovely, even though they couldn’t speak much English. We loved every minute of our stay; the hotel was faultless.

For four nights on my own, this place worked perfectly for the location and price. The only little improvements I’d have wanted were thicker sheets, since these were very thin, and better air conditioning. Otherwise, well worth the visit! ☺️

Cesar at reception deserves a special mention. He was extremely helpful with my enquiry and went above and beyond. The food was enjoyable at both breakfast and dinner, though I would have liked plum tomatoes and a decent sausage at breakfast. The hotel is very Spanish orientated in its entertainment and some of its food, even with lots of English guests. Dinner seating was an odd policy: they assigned places, and my first night I was seated next to three or four people I didn’t know, which felt uncomfortable. I asked to sit alone the next evening and then had the same table to myself, which was excellent. The pool is nice, with an outdoor bar, and was always busy. The rooms are more than adequate, with a big bathroom and balcony, but look dated. The hotel itself is an older type, and it sits up an incline that can be a chore to walk back up in hot weather. The cleaners did a perfectly good job with towels and sheets. The beach is around 10-15 minutes on foot, and nightlife takes 16-20 minutes via the back streets. I suggest getting a map from reception and drawing a straight line to your destination; I was surprised how close the nightlife felt on that route. It suits budget-conscious guests who don’t mind the uphill walk, and at the right price it’s a good option. There’s free WiFi and air con, but no fridge or kettle. Rooms have a hairdryer and a safe that you have to rent.

Basic and clean, and not a bad hotel, but the TV channels are awful. Breakfast was cold and limited, so after two days we had to eat out. Also, some clothes were taken from my room, so I’d advise keeping an eye on your belongings. I wouldn’t return, as there are better hotels around.
