Mont-Park Hotel

The hotel is clean, the room was cleaned daily, and fresh towels were available if needed. Staff spoke English, which was no problem even though most guests when we visited were Spanish. We stayed half board and found the food okay. Breakfast was busy, with queues for the coffee machines, but going later meant it wasn't a problem. The room was basic and had no tea or coffee facilities. The lift was very small, a maximum of four people, and that was a tight fit. We had a short four-day break at Mont-Park in Benidorm; the beach is a short walk away, and the Old Town is a flat walk of about 15-20 minutes.

The food was good, with lots of choice, and the pool and outdoor area were beautiful. There were lots of Spanish guests, but we're in Spain, not the UK, so let's enjoy the culture, food, and atmosphere. The location is great, close to lavante beach. The rooms look tired; some are small, with no balcony or view. If you want one facing the front with a view, you can pay at reception for that kind of room.

The hotel was spotless, and the location is ace for getting about, close to the beach, bus stops, and the busy area. Breakfast was nothing special, just the usual buffet. Apart from the receptionist who checked me in, I had no interaction with any staff. No good mornings or good evenings, just ignorance. The room looked like something from the 40s, in an atrocious little dirty mustard colour. There were no sockets near the bed, desk, or mirror, just one in the far corner beside a random old plastic patio chair. No fridge, kettle, mug, or glass, and there were three unmatched hangers in a wardrobe that didn't open properly. The bed was comfortable enough, but there was only one oblong pillow. The TV only had Spanish channels; I mention it because there's usually an English news channel available. The shower had good power, but you had to step over a fairly high half tub to get in, and there were no bath mats, so I had to use a hand towel. There was zero soundproofing. I could hear a full TV conversation next door and them playing Candy Crush. Avoid this hotel if you want a friendly, functioning place to use as your holiday base. Book if you only plan to sleep.

I booked four nights and three days, full board, at the beginning of December. The place was good enough that I'd return, and for the money it was great. Staff were friendly, rooms clean, and the food acceptable. It was very reasonably priced, so I don't have complaints. I even jumped in the pool for one length, but it was freezing.
