Playamar Apartamentos

The stay itself was good for a cheaper holiday, and the staff were lovely throughout. It’s a little out of the way, but about a ten-minute walk if you’re chatting along. Coconut cafe just around the corner is so good. We were there for five nights on a girls’ holiday. I’m giving it two stars because of how we were treated when leaving. We went down to check out one room and get our €150 room deposit back. The receptionist said he needed to check the room first. He went upstairs, then came back shaking his head and sighing. When I asked what was wrong, he said we needed to take rubbish to the outside bins. We’d cleaned the room top to bottom and put all the rubbish in a bin bag. Another staff member had kindly given us the bag at reception earlier that day. My friend said she didn’t know where the bins were, and he shouted at her for asking, getting his hair off. It was 1:30 a.m.; I don’t know what else he had to do then to be so stressed. He also asked my other friend what she’d broken and put in the bag. She said nothing, just food we hadn’t eaten and rubbish. I asked for another bin liner for the other room, but he didn’t understand what I meant. I tried different words to explain, which is fair enough. After sighing, throwing his hands up, and storming around, he processed my refund. He also checked my other friends out in their room after inspecting it. My friends and I aren’t easily intimidated by men, but I can imagine a less confident group of girls might have felt intimidated by how he carried on. He was so rude. We came down 45 minutes before our taxi, but he still made us late. I wouldn’t stay again because of him. I wish I’d got his name, and I hope something can be sorted out for other guests.

The pool floor could use some work, with quite a few tiles missing. There’s no maid service, so we had to take towels and sheets to reception for a change and carry the rubbish out to the street bins ourselves. Even so, the apartments were clean and basic, the pool toilets were spotless, and the staff were all really friendly. We had a great week and I’d definitely stay again.

We came on a budget, and these apartments helped us stick to it. The pool is small but clean, and two pints for €2.50 is a good deal. There’s a large Dias supermarket around the corner and the new strip is within walking distance. After worrying a bit over the reviews, we were pleasantly surprised: our room was modern and clean, with plenty of storage and space for two adults and two teenagers. The kitchen had everything we needed. We’ll definitely be back.

The photos online don’t all show the updates the apartments have had. We were a family of five with kids of different ages, and had a fantastic holiday. The staff were lovely and ready to help at any time, day or night, and the pool area was always clean. It’s a great location for the price. I’d been worried after reading some reviews, but I’d definitely recommend the apartment. Coconut bar just outside had amazing food and service. We’ll be back next time we’re in benidorm.
