Hotel Poseidón Playa

The rooms all look out to sea, and the place is in a lovely, quiet part of Spain. The food and service were excellent. The air conditioning could have been better, and there wasn't a kettle in the room 😢. Some people in our group had been twice already and said they'd definitely come back.

The room was good and housekeeping did a great job during our 10-night stay. Breakfast was just okay, but we managed. The evening meals were another story: they were always cold, with the soup the only hot dish. I was pleased to see mushroom risotto, then found it freezing cold when I put some on my plate. The entertainment was aimed entirely at Spanish guests. I'd stick to bed and breakfast if you stay here.

We took a leisurely walk along the waves promenade to the old town. The views over Poniente beach and Trossal de la calla were fantastic, and both breakfast and dinner had good selections. Some staff were especially good, including Angel, Wilma, Gabriel and Anamaria. We’ve just come back from eight days at this very good hotel, and I’d recommend staying here at least once.

We stayed on the 16th floor and the views were amazing. The hotel is right on the seafront, with shops, restaurants and supermarkets just a few minutes away. It's about a 20-minute walk to the old town, so you’re close to things without being right in the middle of the bustle. There's a bus stop outside and taxis by reception. Plenty of sunbeds, four lifts, and daily entertainment for all. Mobility scooters can be hired at the hotel. Our room had a fridge, safe deposit box, TV and hairdryer, plus soap and shampoo. It was cleaned daily. There’s no kettle, though, so bring one. The air conditioning worked, but not very well, which could be a problem in summer. We went at the end of October and found the room fine. The pool was freezing. It's a long-established three-star hotel. We only booked bed and breakfast; the food was fine and there was a good variety. Staff were friendly and polite. Lots of Spanish people stay here, which seems a good sign. I’d recommend it for an off-peak holiday when the weather is cooler.
