The location is excellent, but the stay was a real disappointment. Our small, shabby room had no soundproofing. We could hear the neighbors, the elevator mechanism moving, and any activity in the halls. Breakfast was the worst I've had in hotels across the 20+ countries I've visited in my lifetime. The desk staff gave us conflicting information and were aggressively rude. The city was wonderful, and we had great experiences at its restaurants and cafes, which helped make up for the hotel.

The room was really clean and the location was great, though there was no mini fridge. At checkout, the receptionist tried to charge me for a breakfast I hadn't had. More than the charge itself, it was the way she spoke to me: I calmly explained I hadn't eaten breakfast, and she was condescending and dismissive. Her tone and attitude spoiled what had otherwise been a pleasant stay. I've seen the hotel's reply, and to be clear, this wasn't a misunderstanding.

We had a comfortable stay in a room facing the plaza, with a decent shower and a fine bathroom. The hotel is good value and well placed for both the Alhambra and the city center.

I had a great stay at the Macià Plaza. The plaza-facing room gave me a view of the Alhambra, but noise wasn't an issue, and the windows seem to have soundproofing. It's in a great location, and breakfast was solid.

The bed was clean and comfortable, the staff were top notch, and the location was great. The AC got really cold, nighttime noise was low, and there was even a heated drying rack. I don't get some of the negative reviews, or why anyone's surprised that a two-star hotel has a key or dated interiors. Compared with hotels in other cities, I was surprised by the two-star rating. We'd definitely stay here again, and that says a lot.
